"Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."

How I got to Sweden

I recently had a very deep conversion with one of my flat mates here in Lund. I somehow end up getting into deep convos with Swedes quite often and I love that. Dinner at Ivan’s was ultra delicious and Hakån Hellström playing in the background allowed for a quality time of storytelling. My friend asked me how I ended up in Sweden… I would normally say that I got a recommendation from friends, heard lot of great things about Lund and so on. But I never really told the longer version of the story to anyone.

What brought me to Sweden was a culmination of events which occurred while in search of adventure in the past few years. It started in 2009. I saw sick of college in my Sophomore year and decided to take some time off. I wanted to work and save up some money but Orlando( where I went to college) wasn’t cutting it for me anymore. I needed something different. So California was on my travel bucket list and it happened that a friend moved there recently also. I booked my flights with no hesitation and no plan at all. I spent two weeks in California, mostly exploring the state and trying to find what I want to do. California filled me with passion for living great life. I started growing my hair longer and my wardrobe was getting filled with bright colour clothes. When I was in San Diego, a friend suggested that I can take college classes in Costa Rica for 1/5 of the price I was paying in college. I suddenly realised that Costa Rica might be a better option than working and saving money.

Two weeks later I was in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. I suddenly felt in love with the place. No other place on earth has given me the sense of freedom that I felt there. I had no cell phone, barely went in front of computer and life just felt delirious. There I also got an idea about a business. A language learning travel agency.

After I finished college, I moved to South Carolina and then NYC to work on the business idea. When I applied to the entrepreneurship program in Lund, I mostly talked about my business and how managed to pull everything off. I bleive it’s there reason why I got in.

So, I should say that I am in Sweden because one day I decided to drop everything and start looking for an adventure. And that’s also why I love it so much here because the adventure still continues even though it’s cold.
